The 63-year-old Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar passed away on Sunday at his home in Panaji. He is survived by two sons and a grandchild. The former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had been in and out of the hospital in Goa, Mumbai, New Delhi and New York since February last year. He was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in February last year. He passed away around 6.40 pm on Sunday. The sources say that he had been on life support system since late Saturday night.
Manohar Parrikar’s mortal remains will be cremated in Panaji today on Monday evening after they are kept at BJP’s state headquarters for the political leaders and the public to pay their finals respects. After the demise of Manohar Parrikar, the BJP led coalition in Goa will now speed up its search for his successor to assume the post of Goa chief minister.
