Former union finance minister P Chidambaram has finally got bail in the INX Media money laundering case. The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to P Chidambaram and after 105 days of being in Delhi’ Tihar jail. The bench comprising Justices R Banumathi, AS Bopanna and Hrishikesh Roy pronounced the verdict. He was first arrested by the CBI on 21st August in the INX Media corruption case and was granted bail by the Supreme Court on 22nd October. The Enforcement Directorate arrested Chidambaram on 16th October in the money-laundering case. He will walk out of jail today after almost three months.
The bench of Justices R Banumathi, A S Bopanna and Hrishikesh Roya observed that P Chidambaram satisfied the triple tests for granting the bail, and criticized the Delhi High Court for making the observations on the merits of the allegations.
