Tamil director-screenwriter-actor J Mahendran passed away. He took his last breathe on Tuesday morning in Chennai. He was 79. J Mahendran was admitted to Apollo Hospital, following kidney-related ailments, and reportedly, he became sick after a dialysis session. His last rites will be performed today at 5 PM.
J Mahendran was born in 1939. He started his film career penning stories for Tamil movies including Jai Shankar’s Naam Moovar, Jayalalithaa’s Panakkara Pillai and Sivaji Ganesan-starrer Thangapathakkam. His movie Nenjathai Killathe, starring Suhasini and Mohan in the lead, won 3 National Awards, and his last directorial venture was Sasanam, which was released in 2006.
