Ram Jethmalani, the eminent Supreme Court lawyer and former union law minister, passed away at his residence today on Sunday. He was 95. His son Mahesh Jethmalani revealed that his father's last rites will be performed at the Lodhi road crematorium on Sunday evening. He served as the Union law minister and the minister of the urban development in Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government.
India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India has lost an “exceptional lawyer and iconic public figure” and tweeted, “In the passing away of Shri Ram Jethmalani Ji, India has lost an exceptional lawyer and iconic public figure who made rich contributions both in the Court and Parliament. He was witty, courageous and never shied away from boldly expressing himself on any subject.” The Condolences also poured in on Twitter from the several members of the legal and political fraternity.
