Case filed against Rajinikanth

Nehrudas, president of the DVK- Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam petitioned the Coimbatore police commissioner to register an FIR against Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth under sections 153A and 505  of the Indian Penal Code. DVK president Kolathur Mani alleged that Rajinikanth uttered a 'blatant lie that Periyar had in 1971 taken out a procession after garlanding the photos of Lord Ram and Sita with chappals.

Kolathur Mani has demanded an unconditional apology from Superstar Rajinikanth and they also protest outside theatres where his action drama 'Darbar', is being screened. During an event of his last film Darbar, 2.0 actor Rajinikanth reportedly said that during a rally held by Periyar EVR in 1971, in Tamil Nadu's Salem, idols of Lord Rama and Sita were paraded in an offensive way.  It is known news that Rajinikanth is expected to make a foray into politics ahead of state Assembly elections scheduled next year.
