Amala Paul had opted out of Mani Ratnam's upcoming flick Ponniyin Selvan due to date clashes. Amala Paul was roped in Ponniyin Selvan to play one of the pivotal roles. But now the actress had walked out from this project. Sources close to the actress revealed that Amala Paul waited for a long time for this film to start, but it got postponed multiple times. Hence, she conveyed her decision to Mani Ratnam and left the project. Ponniyin Selvan, is a big budget drama, which go on floors in Thailand in the second week of December.
Currently Mani Ratnam is in Thailand and is busy in the finalization of the locations for the shoot. Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The film also has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Karthi.
